Several new questions have come through in the past week so here is the answer to all of them!

How was the survey presented to the diocese?

The survey was packaged carefully and shipped UPS on Wednesday. It arrived at the Diocese of Gary Friday,  05/20/2016 at 1:57 P.M. to the attention of Dr. Tony Bonta.

How quickly will the diocese review the info?

The answer to that question is not known to anyone. They need a chance to go through it and it will probably take many hours.

What if they say they never looked at it?

If you had that in front of you, would you look at it? They will look at it.

The diocese can't do anything with that information anyhow can they?

The Diocese of Gary can do anything they want to with the data they have received as long as it is legal. As for matters of employment, there are laws, but those laws also allow an employer to terminate anyone even without a reason unless a contract says otherwise. They do not have to tell anyone what is in the data. 

If someone really hated a teacher couldn't they make up stuff to get them fired?

Consistency is the key. The comments throughout the survey are very consistent whether positive or negative. It is up to the judgement of the Diocese of Gary to decide what is relevant. In an earlier post, it was explained how this survey was created. You can review that for more details. To give you a clear answer to your question, yes but without the consistency it would likely be viewed as irrelevant or made up. ALMOST EVERYONE had a negative comment made about them in the survey. That does not mean almost everyone should be fired.

How much did it cost to do make the survey?

The actual creation cost nothing because it was done through Google Forms. Nobody received any compensation for their contributions outside of the organization. Nobody within the organization received any compensation. All were volunteers. It cost about $200.00 for printing and shipping the survey results to the Diocese of Gary. Based on the number of hours put into the creation and compliation of the survey and its data and based on the average wage that would have been paid, it would have cost approximately $2,496 in gross payroll costs to make this happen. A company should expect to be charged between $5,000 & $8,500. Approximately 100 hours went into creation and processing of the survey combined. A REMINDER ONCE AGAIN THAT THIS SURVEY WAS NOT CREATED AT THE REQUEST OF ANDREAN HIGH SCHOOL OR THE DIOCESE OF GARY. NEITHER PARTY IS BEING CHARGED ANYTHING FOR THIS PROJECT. This is a case where it is better to donate time and resources to help an important organization (school) in the region and not need any special recognition.

Is TrueSpeak Survey an actual company?

The fact no special recognition is desired is the reason the actual company name behind this was not revealed. Although TrueSpeak Survey is NOT an actual company, the company that conducted this survey and all the data compilations is a marketing & research company located in Chicagoland and provides a variety of similar services throughout the United States and some foreign countries.

Was it hard to do this?

Every survey developed is custom tailored for the customer. It is not hard to do this when you do it all the time but every survey has its own needs.

There is a rumor this is all going to be in the newspapers! Is it true?

This office has not been contacted by the media. The data is considered proprietary, meaning it belongs to TrueSpeak Survey with granted rights to the Diocese of Gary as the designated recipient. It will be the decision of the Diocese of Gary whether they wish to share any of the data with the public. If you are hoping all the negative comments will be on display, that is not likely, at least not naming specific people.

It is official. Today is the day that the Diocese of Gary will be handed the near 500 pages of data that was compiled from survey respondents. It has left the building and will be in their hands shortly! What a project this was!

FRIDAY! Make a staff member cry!

Andrean has obviously been a stressful environment recently and a little pick me up is always helpful. Below is one comment about each current and former staff member. Some of the comments are so thoughtful, it may bring a tear to their eyes. So make a staff member cry today and make sure they know the nice thing that was said about them and throw something nice in there to drive that compliment home!

NOT EVERYONE had a positive comment. That does NOT mean they only had negative comments. It is possible an employee had no comments at all or the comments were vague. It is also possible they were accidentally left off this list. After staring at this data for days it is starting to all look the same!

Michelle Aerts: I worked with her one on one during red crew she was super nice

Scott Austin: He is very nice. He shows a lot of respect to students.

Mike Bauswell: He is a great person. He shows fair discipline if he sees something. He cares about the school, his wrestling team, and he overall has a great attitude at all times. He also does not tolerate disrespect.

Marty Blane: He is my current favorite teacher. I never want to see him go ever. Not only is he an amazing Geometry and History teacher, but he is also just an all around amazing role model. You can tell he cares about this school a lot.

Stacia Bolakowski: One of the most life changing people I have ever interacted with. She truly cares about the students and the school. She is an important person in my and my fellow peers lives.

Megan Bonta: Mrs. Bonta was hands down one of Andrean's greatest assets. She always made sure her room felt very welcoming and hospitable, and made students feel at home. Her kindness and interest in her curriculum made her classes enjoyable for students, and further motivated them to learn. Meg Bonta always made sure her students were challenged in the classroom and learned the curriculum inside and out.

Kathy Boyan: She seems nice, and treats students fair.

Holly Brandewie: Señora is extremely kind-hearted and a great example of a faith-filled person. She is also very well educated in latin cultures and the spanish language, which makes her a wonderful teacher.

Margie Brewer: I had her once and she was very sweet. I needed help with a lesson that a certain teacher could not teach. She was very kind, and explained it very in depth. I was also able to see her for help, even though I do not have her as a teacher. She is a very reliable person.

Abby Brown: She taught at a perfect pace for an honors course. Her class was challenging, but it was the fun kind of challenging. She really helped a lot of students to understand Shakespeare and get interested in his plays.

Wende Burbridge: such a sweet woman. never knew who i was but treated me like i mattered.

Jim Clark: Mr. Clark, words can not explain my hatred for physics. But you were a great guy with cool stories. Too bad you're a physics teacher. Also thanks for passing me so I could graduate without summer classes.

Margi DeMass: good teacher

Leslie Dianda: She was a good teacher. Her class was fun.

Faith Donovan: Ms. Donovan finds a way to make learning fun. She teaches the material well and helps you if you don't understand. She is a young teacher with lots of spirit and makes students learn and actually be intrigued in what they're doing. One of the best teachers I've had.

Mary Edwards: Amazing person. Would have started scholarship fund if she had been the one in charge. Did a great job helping us with final bills when my daughter transferred out of AHS.

Ana Equihua: Ana Equihua is both a wonderful counselor when it comes to students' personal lives and their academic standings. She made the college application process very easy for all of the seniors, and genuinely cares about each student in a very compassionate, loving way. She always helps students resolve problems and is very approachable.

Carol Fitzpatrick: THE BEST ENGLISH TEACHER. students complain about her because she assigns a lot of work and doesn't let anyone slack off, but it has helped me tremendously in college. Essays are easy because of her

Brooke Fowler: One of the sweetest and most amazing teachers. Her class brightens my day and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to experience her as a teacher and human being.

Martha Germonprez: She is like a mother to me. She loves Andrean and is wonderful to all she runs across.

Jenifer Gilger: She started an American Sign Language Club and it is so lit.

Mary Beth Ginalski: Bring her back she was an amazing woman with great ideas for the school.

Gene Giorgio: too smart to teach us high schoolers

Helen Girogio: Mrs. Giorgio, chem with you was great. I had no idea what I was doing and you helped every step of the way. Thank you. I had to take chem at Wabash college my sophomore year and what you taught me helped me get a B in the class. I can not thank you enough for pushing me.

Stephen Grabek: Grabek is the best in theatre I was able to work with him one on one. He cares about students so so so much.

Amanda Grove: senora grove teaches Spanish so well. Not only is she a good teacher but she inspires students spiritually making them grow in Christ.

Laurie Gutowski: The kindest and purest soul in the building. She wasn't just and in class teacher that you'd talk to, she's one of the few you enjoy talking to outside of the gym as well. My favorite teacher I had

Eric Hankins: Eric always worked hard in the classroom and connected with students.

Scott Henwood: He is really nice and cares about the students

Jackie Herrera: Sorry she had leave

Scott Hicko: Great counselor even better coach

Todd Hutson: He is the only reason I had an interest in physics

Jackie Joy: Very compassionate and cared about every student.

Nancy Kelly-Fernandez: Mrs. Kelley-Fernandez was hands-down the best teacher I had in my four years at Andrean. As one of her english students, even when I did not try as hard as I should have, Mrs. KF pushed me to work harder than I ever had in order to be successful. As a journalism and student publications student, my writing and graphic design abilities were pushed and challenged to meet her expectations. Mrs. Kelley's style of journalism instruction helped me to land both of my first jobs writing as a freelance journalist for two music magazines. Without her instruction I would not be half of the worker, writer, or student that I am. Mrs. KF sometimes pushed us so hard we thought we were going to crack, but in the long run actually molded us into diamonds.

Jim Klora: Klora teaching me for a month taught me so much of european history is unreal. Also his teaching style was very intising.

Jaycob Knazur: he has done a find job filling mr. horvaths shoes even though nobody can. mr horvath is looking down from heavan and proud.

Fr. Mick Kopil: He is a really nice priest

Mary Kopil: I had Ms. Kopil 3 out of 4 years at Andrean. At first I didn't like her, but at the end of my senior year she was one of my favorite teachers ever. Great English teacher, I did not know she was preparing me for college the whole time. Thank you, from Jordan

Barb Koteles: I never knew I could do so great in art until I had her.

Michelle Krol: A very nice lady.

Mary Beth Kucka: She is a really nice and really educational French teacher and I learned a lot from her. I'm really going to miss her next year

Laure Laco: One of the best teachers I ever had

Mary Lick: A very good teacher who cares about her students and wants what is best for them

Sammy Listro: Mr. Listro has easily become one of the most-loved staff members at Andrean. He makes his classes exciting and fun, always having students try new things. He is also very laid back in a good way, allowing students to listen to music and socialize with friends during class, but making sure they still get their work done. He may be soft-spoken, but is still stern when necessary, and knows how to keep students in line.

Dave Little: Taught me everything I know about music. Truly cares for Andrean and the band program.

Ellen Longawa: down to earth!!!

Debbie Lubash: Thought she was one of the friendliest people on staff, and very helpful.

Hether Lytton: She is really nice

Denise Maldonado: Mrs. Maldo is one of those teachers who take the time to 100% know her stuff and know her students. She is a very kind soul, always concerned for her students' well-being and happiness. She also knows her every day's lecture and lesson plan by heart for the entire year, and her tests are very well tied-in with her notes. She is an all-around great teacher and person, and a motherly figure for many.

Sue Marovich: Trainer is a phenomenal teacher that is very real with her students about all health topics. She stands for making sure her students know the notes as well as she does, and she also makes their review days fun and educational.

Amanda Marshall: New and very friendly, helpful with injuries

Phil Mason: Excellent role mode

Mike Masten: Andrean students have enjoyed his class for many years. Unfortunate he is gone.

Jessica Maya: Ms. Maya, you wanted me to take Spanish class serious. And it wasn't going to happen. I loved the fact you wanted the best out of me even though I never did it. For that I'm sorry. Also when I got to Wabash College I was forced to take Spanish my freshmen year. That was karma For not taking your class seriously. Again I'm sorry and if I could do it again I would take your class serious.

Michelle Mittler: she is very caring and sweet to everyone.

Donna Mount: only dealt with mrs. mount 2 times. she dropped everything to help me both times and I could tell she was super busy. my parents like her too. she's profiessional.

Billy Mueller: He's such a nice man.

Phyllis Murzyn: She is an amazing Teacher! She always thinks of her students, for everything, giving weekly planners and others

Dave Nelson: He is like a father to me. He always supports his students and creates a welcoming environment for all.

Chris Noble-Urchell: Señora Noble has always been determined to make sure her students get the best possible experience out of her class, both by making the curriculum challenging and fun. She is a very kind woman and cares extensively about her students.

Jeff Noel: He could fix anything.

Carol Norris: She is the smart one! She was the one who handled all the behind the scenes and did a great job.

Joe O'Neill: Mr. O'Neill was my precal teacher my junior year, and helped me to rediscover my love of learning. He is very personable and caring of his dtudents and fellow staff members. Joe O'Neill is an exemplary member of the Andrean community as a soccer coach, Kairos administrator, and math instructor.

Claudia Ontiveros: She left? I'm sad now. She was awesome!

Katy Pagorek: My favorite theology teacher.

Tony Pagorek: Very passionate and organized with creative ideas for the students in the sport he coaches

Molly Perez: She helped get lights in the theatre. She is a heroine

Judith Pete: Loved her as a German teacher. Was very sad to see the German language classes end. She was also a tremendous world history teacher when I attended school at AHS.

Dave Pishkur: Congrats on over 900 wins!

Ryne Pishkur: He always says hi to the students in the hallway. One time, at a home basketball game, the other team's coach started yelling at our team's scorekeeper and Ryne told that coach that he can't talk to students like that and made him apologize after the game.

Zinna Pitts: Very nice and love her as my shuttle driver that I'm going on the bus again next year!

Rick Piwowarski: He is really nice

Jay Price: He is the glue to our school

Fr. Paul Quanz: He was a good principle and fun to have around. he got things done and was good with the students.

Nancy Reed: She was nice

Mike Reynolds: Reynolds was a great man, and his attitude was awesome to have. He kept us on our toes the whole year.

Keli Rouse: tough as nails and good cuz needs to be!

Sr. Gayle Rusbasan: She is so sweet and loving. there's nothing you can do to upset her. she only shows discipline when necessary. she has no favorites whatsoever. you can never put her down, and she always shows up with an amazing attitude ready to take on the day. she is a person everyone needs to follow.

Brendan Ryan: Brendan is a very integral part to Andrean

Edwin Shelton: #peaceandkindness #wabisabi He is always talking about love and acceptance. It's great.

Chris Skinner: You learn so much in his classes. The learning environment is simultaneously open and free while also rigorous. A solid man and teacher.

Charlotte Spence: Ms. Spence is the best teacher I have had in awhile. She's really passionate about what she does.

Ryan Stablein: He is the most friendly guy. He genuinely cares about all of his students.

Janet Stefano: Opened my eyes to world religions. An amazing woman with an amazing soul

Barb Steffel: Mrs. Steffel is one of the kindest ladies, and is always willing to help. She helps tske care of things guidance-related, and also helps students with minor issues when their counselors are out of office.

Martin Stevens: He never had a problem blaming himself when something happened that was his error like a couple times when he clicked the wrong option and shut off the server instead of rebooting it. We always knew whatever he said was truth even when we didn’t like it.

John Szot: I will never forget having the Szotman for class or decathlon, He could make a lecture on any social studies topic very unique and really taught students to support their opinions with evidence

Lydia Tabernacki: she's great.

Darlene Talian: mrs. talian is so sweet and she has been through so much. she worries so hard. when us kids had a computer problem she would try to fix it until she made it worse haha and had to call mr. stevens to help. but she treated it like 911 every time anything went wrong and worried about us kids not being able to print or whatever

Sr. Carol Ann Terlicher: She is the best!!! Her classes are the most interesting and engaging. She expects a lot from her students and her tests cover absolutely everything we learn. Sometimes she would throw starbursts at students and it was awesome

Rick Torres: One of the most hardworking and important people. He changed my life. He made me the man I am today. He will never cease to be an inspiration. I owe all my achievements and my life to this man. He makes an impact anywhere he goes. This man is legendary and changes the world through individuals.

Kathy Trapane: (EDITED FOR PRIVACY REASONS): I have a sickness and she has done nothing but care about me. She asks how I'm doing every time she sees me and she always lets me lay down whenever I'm in pain. I have 0 negative things to say about her. She is wonderful.

Julie Unold: Very compassionate and understanding. Definitely a positive role model

Harry Vande Velde: I loved having Harry around and he was a great role model and support system for me

Julia Voyles: Julia was actually one of my favorite people. She was great at her job, and she had a way of connecting with all of her athletes. She looked out for us and she was great to be around.

Steve Wachowski: Great teacher and just an all around friendly, fun person. Kept it real but taught his class well.

Anne Weiss: Anne Weiss is one of the toughest, most determined women in Andrean's history. She is intimidating, but soft-spoken. She gives lectures students never forget, and is very willing to work with them about academic conflicts. Such a good woman and instructor.

Bethany Wendt: (EDITED FOR PRIVACY REASONS): Very good teacher, I don't have her but I go to her for help because I don't learn from another teacher so she is a big help. She also is a main part of theatre and helps a tremendous amount with it!

Dawn Wojkovich: Wonderful

The Lord Works In Mysterious Ways

The reports have been finalized and are ready for shipment. The package weight is 7 pounds rounded up, but the EXACT weight is 6 pounds, 12 ounces. A Google search of 6:12 brings the following result:

Based on all of the compiled data, it is as if God wanted this survey to be done. Andrean is not a dark world of wickedness, but there is no doubt that some of the former and current personnel could be thought of as such. 

This survey was a good thing!

Some more details included in the reports to provoke paying close attention to detail by the Diocese of Gary from the Breakdown of 125 Participants explanation which should confirm for any doubters that the survey data was truly received anonymously:

·         It is very important to consider that there is no way to verify whether someone that took the survey was actually a student or staff member, former or current, parent or alum, etc.

·         78 participants claim to be current students while only 2 claim to be former employees and only 5 claim to be current employees. It is agreed collectively that this is the only truly questionable statistic in the survey, the breakdown of participants. If some were untrusting that this survey was anonymous and independent, they may have identified as a different demographic.

To further express the legitimacy and authenticity of the survey, this is the public version of what the Diocese of Gary will receive:

...the 12 contributors to this survey WERE NOT AND ARE NOT allowed to view the compiled data. This too was agreed upon prior to creation of the survey.  The contributors will see what the general public sees.

Is everything REALLY being shared?

Is everything REALLY being shared with the Diocese of Gary?

MOST DEFINITELY! So much so that it was necessary to warn them in advance that nothing was left out. So in case you wondered if everything is making its way to the eyes of the Diocese of Gary, yes. Even the inappropriate and senseless comments. Luckily that only accounts for a very small percentage.

Please be warned: As a general rule, the comments are, as requested, thoughtful whether negative or positive. Unfortunately, due to a combination of apparent anger in some cases, freedom to speak completely freely in others, and immaturity in a few, there are some vulgar words used throughout various comments whether derogatory or sexual in nature. It was decided prior to creation of the survey that absolutely no data would be altered in any way, so you are seeing it word for word how it was received, grammar and spelling errors included. 

Some more insight to show the process.

There is a strong desire to keep negativity that was shared in the survey out of the public eye for as much as people want to read all "the dirt". The only negative result that is being shared at the moment is an excerpt from the report being sent to the Diocese of Gary. Based on information shared since this survey ended, there is a higher confidence level toward the future of Andrean based on actions taken by the Diocese of Gary. This statistic was relayed with the following comment to drive it home.

FIRST AND FOREMOST, the first question and answer displayed (all of which were rearranged to flow more smoothly in the reports), was “The Diocese of Gary is going to take our concerns seriously.”  Out of 99 that answered, 57 feel you will not and 42 feel you will. Hopefully, the 57 are wrong.
In addition, we advised the Diocese of the following:

A few considerations when reviewing the responses:

• ·         All questions aside from Demographics were optional.
• ·         People typically answered based on direct knowledge of the employee.
• ·         There will almost always be someone that does not like an employee no matter what.
• ·         The type of interaction a participant has with an employee affects the number of responses.
• ·         NEVER was the response expected to be so strong. You can say "just" 125 people completed the survey, but not included would be those that forgot to hit SUBMIT at the end, of which there is no way to know if that happened, as well as those that decided it was too involved and quit early on. another statistic that cannot be determined.
• ·         What is certain is this; there are some very consistent overall opinions about the school and its employees, past and present, and this survey was not a waste of time for anyone that participated.

That's a lot of.........

Until the survey was printed earlier this week onto paper, it was not known how many pages it would take. 63 pages!! It's a good thing the technology exists to save paper!

There were 354 questions on the survey all together. No wonder it is taking so long to put it all together in reports! But it is almost done!! 

It's almost that time!

As the finishing touches are being put on the reports to be delivered to the Diocese of Gary, this is the public version of a portion of the introductory packet to give you a feel for how seriously this survey was created, conducted and analyzed. More information will be posted later and soon you will see some interesting comments from survey respondents!

The TrueSpeak Survey (from this point forward known as “the survey”), conducted for Andrean High School was not done at the request of Andrean High School nor the Diocese of Gary.

The survey was not created by one individual but rather a group of 12 individuals, none of which were known to each other to have contributed to the creation of the survey. To explain, the following demographics were selected for creation of survey questions:

·         4 Current Andrean High School Employees

·         4 Former Andrean High School Employees

·         4 Current Andrean Students

·         4 Current Andrean Parents of Current Andrean Students

This group of 12 knew that 11 others were participating in the creation of the survey and the demographics of the group, but not the names of the chosen ones.Each contributor was asked to submit as many questions as they could think of that would help bring light to the realities of Andrean High School’s environment as it were this school year.

ALL CONTRIBUTORS AGREED NOT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE ACTUAL SURVEY. IT WAS AGREED BY ALL THAT THOSE THAT ASSISTED IN CREATING THE SURVEY WOULD BE IN A CONFLICT OF INTEREST TO TAKE THE SURVEY AND WOULD MAKE THE RESULTS THEREFORE QUESTIONABLE. CONTRIBUTORS WERE TAKEN AT THEIR WORD THAT THEY WOULD NOT PARTICIPATE AND CERTIFIED THE SAME UPON CLOSING OF THE SURVEY.

EQUALLY IMPORTANT, THE OFFICIAL CREATION OF THE SURVEY, TWITTER ACCOUNT, EMAIL ACCOUNT, GOOGLE+ PAGE, AND BLOG AND THE DATA COLLECTION SECURITY AND MANAGEMENT OF THE SAME WAS DONE OUTSIDE OF THIS GROUP OF 12 BY AN INDEPENDENT THIRD PARTY NOT CONNECTED TO ANDREAN HIGH SCHOOL OR THE DIOCESE OF GARY.  AGAIN, THIS DECISION WAS MADE IN THE BEST INTEREST OF AVOIDING A CONFLICT OF INTEREST OR ANY CHANCE OF DATA TAMPERING.

All questions were analyzed in a variety of methods to determine which should be included. The list of current employees was provided by a current employee. The list of former employees was a combination of various contributor’s recollection. Inadvertently, some people were not included but learned about after the fact. Certain positions were not considered in this mix, including non-management cafeteria staff, but rather questions were asked pertaining to the cafeteria staff collectively.

The survey was carefully crafted in the same basic manner a Risk Assessment test is crafted.  You will notice that some questions that seem to be duplicated are different variations of the same question. For example, although every staff member was individually reviewed, some were called out specifically in the “Agree/Disagree” section of the survey, while specific departments were questioned in the same section and then again in open commentary about specific departments and groups. Finally, the open commentary at the end of the survey was a form of consistency detector as well.

All in all, the objective was to be sure the most consistent information was being collected, and to do that, the questions were crafted in a manner to encourage that. The results worked out as expected overall, and though nothing can be a perfect science it is collectively believed that the results are very consistent, accurate, and sometimes revealing.

In processing the results, it is important to consider the length of time and employee had been employed at the school, who did or didn't know the employee, what their position was and how much their position involved interacting with the various participants. Because of that, some numbers may seem inflated or deflated, but these results are completely in-check with comments made about the same people.

Of 108 total employees evaluated by survey participants, which include current and former employees, Denise Maldonado came in first and determined the curve on which the rest of the grading scale would be applied. 

The comments about Ms. Maldonado match completely with this ranking, and she is obviously a very well liked and respected employee by students, staff, parents, and alum alike!

So, if you see Ms. Maldonado today, please congratulate her and thank her for being such an awesome teacher and influence to so many.

A few stats on the TrueSpeak Survey:

108 employees were included in the survey.

Of these 73 are current employees *

Of these 35 are former employees

One former employee was written in, accidentally omitted and not included in these figures, but the employee's information is being included in the report being sent to the Diocese of Gary.

In processing the results, it is important to consider the length of time and employee has / had been employed at the school, how much their position involves interacting with the various participants, and the severity of any negative comments received. The Diocese of Gary is asked to keep this information in mind while analyzing the reports they will receive soon.

The top ranking employee came in at 95% and determined the curve to be used for the rest of the employees.

The bottom ranking employee came in at 26%.

Two current employees tied for 1st place on who should NOT remain with Andrean. Each of these people received 58 votes to terminate.

Four current employees received NO votes for termination!

Several employees received between 1 and 10 votes for termination, which is relatively low and expected. Nobody likes everyone, right?

There are 26 employees that received more than 10 votes for termination. Of these, three received between 20-29, six received 30-39, two received 40-49, and four received between 50-58.

The top number of votes received for the RETURN of a former employee was 85.

Two former employees had NO votes to return.

Double digit votes to return are in the following totals:

10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 20, 24, 26, 27, 28, 31, 49, 54, 57, 58, 64, 76, 82, 85

Comments about individual employees total 135 pages and include 27,362 words!

Targeted department & group comments as well as end of survey open comments consume an additional 50 pages and include 13,656 words.

All together, participants spoke out using 41,018 words on 185 pages! Now that's using your words!

Converting those words into panda bears, you'd have about 124 pandas in front of you at 334 pounds each.  Who wouldn't want that? **

SOME Survey Details To Be Released Today!

In answer to the most popular question, no, the Diocese of Gary did not receive any survey results on Friday as was planned. This is because of the magnitude of information received. In totality, 125 people spent an hour or more responding to the survey, many had to have spent more than an hour based on how many comments were added.

SOME survey details will be released today, PRIOR to sending that information to the Diocese of Gary.

Please continue to monitor this blog for those information releases. There will be several updates released.

As for delivering the entire portfolio to the Diocese of Gary, it is not done yet and it needs to be sent in a useful way to them so that it can be interpreted easily and quickly.

A few stats:

There are presently three separate reports being tidied up.

These 413 pages will not be where it ends. It is estimated that the final report will be 500 pages.

NEVER was the response expected to be so strong. You can say "just" 125 people completed the survey, but not included would be those that forgot to hit SUBMIT at the end, of which there is no way to know if that happened, as well as those that decided it was too involved and quit early on. another statistic that can not be determined.

What is certain is this; there are some very consistent overall opinions about the school and its employees, past and present, and this survey was not a waste of time for anyone that participated.

The survey has been closed so that all of the data can be analyzed and organized in the best possible way so that the Diocese of Gary will receive a thorough report. Survey Closing Date Announced

The Andrean TrueSpeak Survey has brought in over 100 responses, and because it is a survey that can take a long time to complete, the number of people willing to go through the process will dwindle soon enough. Plus, there's a time factor here. The Diocese of Gary should have these results in-hand as soon as possible because it COULD have an effect on decisions they make moving forward.

So, in case you missed it, there is an ALUMNI ONLY Listening Session at Andrean High School on Tuesday, May 10 at 6:30 PM in the school's cafeteria. As a result, it has been determined that the survey will be closed out in the early hours of May 11, giving those that attend that meeting a chance to come home and fill out the survey.

The goal from that point is to deliver the complied results and comments to the Diocese of Gary by Friday, May 13.

Answers to some questions that have been asked are below. If a question is highlighted it was added after 5/5/16 or has changed in some way.

Q: Why are there so many questions?

A:  The goal is to gather as much information as possible in order to promote the greatest impact from the results.


Q:  Why does it take forever to complete the survey?

A:  Even if you don't have much to say, you may feel like it takes an eternity to complete the survey, and for some people based on in-depth comments, it can take an hour or longer. A survey of this magnitude is very serious and if you're willing to spend the time it takes to answer it, you're serious, and the Diocese of Gary will logically take this much more seriously.


Q:  How long will the survey be open?

A:  There is an ALUMNI ONLY Listening Session at Andrean High School on Tuesday, May 10 at 6:30 PM in the school's cafeteria. As a result, it has been determined that the survey will be closed out in the early hours of May 11, giving those that attend that meeting a chance to come home and fill out the survey.

Q:  How do I know you do not work for Andrean or the Diocese of Gary?

A:  This survey is being independently conducted. The creator(s) is/are not employed by either organization. Andrean nor the Diocese of Gary requested this survey be created.


Q:  You used the Andrean Crest. Isn't that illegal?

A:  No, not at all. The Andrean Crest is not trademarked or signature marked. As such, there are no legal restrictions on its use as long as it is not used for illegal activities such as pretending to represent the school, be the school, or work on behalf of the school when none of those factors are true.


Q:  Is there a limit to how much I can type?

A:  As it turns out, yes. A respondent had some extremely lengthy comments that caused him/her to open a new survey just to place that text. You will get a notice when you click NEXT if there is an issue. This won't happen with most people, but again, some VERY lengthy comments.  If that happens to you, just copy and paste chunks at a time into Notepad or any word processing program, and click NEXT until it stops giving you that message. It is based on the page you're on and not the whole survey, so you may be able to paste that overflow into the end comments. Q:  WHO CREATED THIS??

A:  You get your anonymity, so there is no reason the creator(s) shouldn't get the same. At this moment, the creator(s) plan to identify himself/herself/themselves to the Diocese of Gary at the time of delivery of results of the survey. The element of secrecy is for one reason and one reason only. To confirm publicly the identity of the creator(s) could affect the results of the survey itself. In order to preserve the sanctity, legitimacy, etc., of the results, it is important that the creator(s) is/are not known at this point.

Q:  Are you a member of the press/media?

A:  No.

Q:  When will the Diocese of Gary receive the results of this survey?

A:  It is intended that the Diocese of Gary will be delivered the survey results and comments on Friday, May 13. The fact that it is Friday the 13th is purely coincidental and nothing should be read into that date.
